The HBHTI aims to increase offerings of community-based experiential training and foster an integrated health approach to address behavioral health prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The HBHTI is funded until August 31, 2026 and is closed to new applicants during its last year of funding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"programoverview\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Program Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Hawai\u02bbi Behavioral Health Training Institute is a multi-year grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support the behavioral health paraprofessional workforce development. Through the support of the grant, our program aims to enhance the access and availability of quality substance use disorder (SUD) counselors to foster an integrated approach to providing behavioral health prevention, treatment, and recovery services to persons with SUDs in high-need and high-demand areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">This <a href=\"#levels\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#levels\">two-level program<\/a> that includes a scholarship and stipend for participants while completing their Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate of Competence. Enrollment in one of these three school\u2019s certificate programs is required in order for participation: Leeward Community College, UH Maui College, or Hawai\u02bbi Community College. Learners participating in Level 2 will receive on-the-job training opportunities with our partnered agencies as well as a $7,500 stipend and continued professional development training over a 1-year period as a full-time apprentice or over a 2-year period as a part-time apprentice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"eligibility\">Eligibility Requirements<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Must be a resident of Hawai\u02bbi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Must be 18 or older<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Must be currently enrolled or accepted to attend UH Leeward CC, UH Maui&nbsp;College, or UH Hawai\u02bbi CC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">To participate as as a Fellow at an apprenticeship program post graduation, one must be located on O\u2018ahu (optional for neighbor island students)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Intended completion of the COSUDS (Certificate of Competence in Substance Use Disorders Counseling) program within 2 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Post-education\/graduation commitment to work in the substance use disorder counseling and behavioral health field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"apply\">HBHTI Application &amp;
