Hilo physician John Uohara created a scholarship for the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo .
The Uohara Family Endowed Excellence Scholarship in Women’s Volleyball will support members of Hilo’s women’s volleyball team who demonstrate academic excellence.
Uohara launched the fund with a $20,000 gift, which 东精影业 Hilo has matched thanks to a limited-time matching gift program made possible by a donation from an anonymous donor. A native of Hilo, Uohara earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa .

Reginald Worthley and Eve Shere established the Reginald Worthley and Eve Shere Endowed Scholarship for Excellence with a gift estimated at $236,500.
Claire Durham established the Claire Durham Scholarship with a donation of $50,000.
Shere and Durham are graduates of the 东精影业 Mānoa executive MBA program and Worthley is a professor at the College of Business.
