Ocean awareness celebration at UH Hilo

Children enjoy the chance to interact with marine critters at touch-tanks

The 5th annual will be on Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Pacific Aquaculture and Coastal Resources Center in Keaukaha.

The event raises public awareness of the impact people have on the ocean environment, promotes conservation of ocean and coastal resources in a culturally sensitive way and communicates the outcomes of current ocean and coastal research, management and education efforts in Hawaiʻi.

  • Tours of PACRC
  • Family friendly activities including remote operated underwater vehicles, fishing games, touch tanks, face painting and poi pounding
  • Live music
  • Food booths

Ocean Day is hosted by PACRC in partnership with the 东精影业 Hilo Student Association, EPSCoR Hawaiʻi IMUA III and the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant.
