Gov. Neil Abercrombie released $58.5 million to the for capital improvement projects at various campuses.
“Our university and college facilities must provide students and faculty with a foundation for success in higher education,” Gov. Abercrombie said. “In order for 东精影业 to fulfill its educational mission, we must invest in the system’s physical infrastructure.”
Capital improvement projects
- $50,000,000—Systemwide capital renewal and deferred maintenance
Planning, design and construction funds to address the backlog of repair and maintenance projects at 东精影业 Mānoa ($37,544,000), 东精影业 Hilo ($3,456,000), 东精影业 West Oʻahu ($24,000), 东精影业 Community Colleges ($8,725,000) and 东精影业 Systemwide ($251,000). 东精影业 has a $402 million project backlog for reroofing, renovations, resurfacing, mechanical/electrical systems, repainting and other improvements.
- $8,000,000—Leeward Community College, renovation
Design and construction funds for major structural repairs, interior renovations and improvements. The theatre, which hosts 100,000 patrons a year, was completed in 1974 and no major renovation work has been performed since.
- $500,000—, Kopiko classrooms and courtyard, phase II
Construction funds to renovate Wing B. Built in 1994, Wing B has three classrooms used by the nursing program, and will be upgraded with current technology and renovated to link with the outdoor courtyard.
