Academic advisors at the are coordinating this year’s bringing together academic advisors, counselors, faculty and administrators in higher education from California, Hawaiʻi and Nevada. The conference theme is Advising with Aloha and the keynote speaker will be renowned NACADA Executive Director .

Conference coordinators anticipate record attendance, with approximately 500 attendees for 8 pre-conference workshops, 63 concurrent presentation sessions and 10 poster exhibits. Presentors represent institutions such as the , , , , , and the . Presentations will address themes such as transfer student success, assessment in advising, first-generation students, building resilient students and the use of technology advising.

Coordinators Kiana Shiroma, Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center director, and Rayna Tagalicod, 惭ā苍辞补 Advising Center academic advisor, are excited to provide an opportunity for attendees to connect and share best practices in academic advising. “We are also looking forward to featuring the accomplishments by the advisors within the University of Hawaiʻi System,” said Tagalicod.

The NACADA Region 9 Conference will be held at the Ala Moana Hotel March 4–6.

“The theme of the conference is Advising with Aloha and we hope that attendees learn how they can incorporate aloha into their advising with students,” said Tagalicod.
