My theory to the shark’s buoyancy is that when you live on the bottom the only place to go is up. They have 1,000 reasons why to go up. By expanding their feeding zone upward, beyond the sea floor they greatly increase their chances of survival. Other things you might want to consider are temperature factors i.e. day vs. night, raise in body temperature from activity, etc.
