I find it annoying how some of the people here can speak their minds with impunity, the way they should, without attempts to clamp down on their Freedom of Speech or Expression.

As a transgender member of the UH faculty, I am delighted with UH’s efforts here. Having a peaceful place to use the restroom, free from harassment, is a HUGE, especially for our trans and nonbinary students, faculty, and staff.

Much love to the Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi and the Graduate Student Organization for championing this. <3

@David, I’m a student at UH too. They don’t care who/what you are. As long as you have the money to pay, they let you in. Though it is a scam because most people (myself) never qualified for financial aid, but I don’t want the burden of debt when I graduate.

So, it’s a bathroom stall. I think this will cause more harm than what it is intended to do. Though not sure why if you can urinate standing up, that you need a “gender neutral” bathroom. Aren’t bathrooms equipped with toilets!?

I don’t understand why the previous two posters are whining and being so negative. This is a great thing and people just want to be downers.

the far left has utterly failed the LGBTQ community. Instead of focusing on the massive setbacks to the gay community caused by mass muslim immigration and subsequent exponential growth caused by their high fertility that results in them outbreeding the native populations/culture, the left pushes lgbtq to focus on “gender neutral” bathrooms for people that think they are the opposite sex they really are. All one has to do is look at north africa to realize what unchecked muslim immigration followed by their high fertility has caused over the last 250 years to realize the seriousness of islamic mass immigration in the west. They do not integrate but conquer the native population with their high fertility before implementing their culture on the host population. The Koran openly gives them this order. If christians behaved the way muslims do liberals would be all over them yet somehow they remain silent and pretend to be a friend of the lgbtq community. Focus on the real issues rather then being distracted by bathroom bills.

I feel “uncomfortable” and “unsafe” paying insane tuition prices for resident tuition in buildings that are crumbling around me, while I experiment with my broken equipment. All the while, board members and administrators are approving pay hikes for themselves and arguing how much to pay a new football coach.

Don’t get me wrong, I find nothing wrong with making sure ALL people who are on campus feel comfortable. However, I am not in line with how UH prioritizes how money is spent. I’m sure those very people who would be pleased about a gender neutral bathroom would be better pleased with a better standard of education.
