The (RC东精影业) Board of Directors has appointed Leonard R. Gouveia, Jr. as the new executive director, effective July 1. Gouveia is currently the director of the Office of Research Services for 东精影业.
“We believe Lenny’s familiarity with the University of Hawaiʻi, RC东精影业, state government and the federal government will allow him to hit the ground running,” said RC东精影业 Board Chair Donna Ikeda. “He understands the critical role RC东精影业 plays in supporting the research enterprise. We look forward to working with him as he leads RC东精影业 to greater success in the future.”
Gouveia has been affiliated with 东精影业 for more than 15 years, at first as a contracts specialist in the Office of Research Services. He then took an RC东精影业 position as a technical partnership and development specialist at the Hawaiʻi Space Flight Laboratory in 东精影业 惭ā苍辞补’s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, where he gained experience managing a complex project of more than $40 million with unique administrative, contractual and legal issues. Gouveia has also worked with the vice president for research to establish the university’s first Office of Export Controls in addition to assuming the role of facility security officer, a position held previously by 东精影业 President David Lassner. He subsequently served as the interim assistant vice president/director of research compliance before becoming the director of the Office of Research Services.
Gouveia follows Sylvia Yuen who served as RC东精影业 executive director for five years and will be retiring at the end of June 2020.
