The attendees had the opportunity to engage with students, faculty and staff from approximately 200 academic programs and services, and experienced more than 250 activities ranging from hands-on workshops, demonstrations, food, entertainment and more, including: demonstrations and workshops with ; presentations about how blind fish evolve super sensors to adapt to extreme environments or about the discovery of new microbes throughout Hawaiʻi; and a walk through a 45 ft. inflatable whale to explore its anatomy in 3D.
“I hope that they see that your university, right here in your backyard, is a world class university with something for everybody,” 东精影业 惭ā苍辞补 Provost Michael Bruno said.
Current students and employees led walking tours of the campus and facilities, including the Warrior Recreation Center, student housing, insect museum, physics and astronomy lab, Brain and Behavior Lab, labs and more.
“I’m pretty excited because I’m almost to the age to obviously go to college. And both of my parents are 东精影业 alumni, including my older brother, so I’m looking at this school to be a prospect,” said Daniel Shiraki, a Kalani High School junior.
Melanie Shiraki, Daniel’s mother and a proud 东精影业 alumna said, “For him to consider 东精影业 is really exciting. At least he’ll be at home with us still, but going to a really good school.”
