The celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023–24 by exceeding its fundraising and performance goals.
东精影业 Bands set out to raise $100,000 and complete at least 100 performances during their centennial year. They surpassed both objectives, raising over $100,000, capped off by a 100th anniversary gala in April 2024; and performing more than 110 times, which included marching and concert band performances, neighbor island tours and a 150-saxophone world record attempt.
The funds will be used to purchase much-needed instruments and repair equipment, as well as other items for the program.
“Thank you to everyone who donated to our 100th anniversary fund. Because of your generosity, we achieved our goal for our students,” said Gwen Nakamura, 东精影业 惭ā苍辞补 assistant director of bands. “It was amazing and heartwarming to see so many alumni from so many years come back to celebrate 100 years.”
