Several members of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and basketball teams were recognized for their exceptional performance both on the court and in the classroom, earning spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

For the men’s basketball team, graduate student Tanner Christensen and sophomores Tom Beattie and Akira Jacobs were selected. For the wo尘别苍’蝉 team, seniors Brooklyn Rewers and Lily Wahinekapu were recognized.

This honor requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, with nominees needing to have participated in at least 90% of the season’s games or started in 66% of the games.

Christensen, who was named All-Big West honorable mention this past season, led 东精影业 in rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots. Beattie played a key role, starting 24 of 31 games and leading the team in minutes played. Jacobs played in all but one game and was second on the team in three-pointers made while contributing significantly off the bench.

Both Rewers and Wahinekapu helped lead 东精影业 to its second consecutive Big West regular-season championship. Rewers appeared in all 32 games, averaging 7.0 points per game and ranking second on the team with 148 total rebounds. Wahinekapu played in 31 games, starting 30. She led the team with 11.4 points per game and was named Big West Player of the Year, also earning a spot on the All-Big West first team.

Wahinekapu is also among the Academic All-District honorees selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced on April 16.
