

Update March 13: 东精影业 Maui College campus will be closed Saturday, March 14, and all scheduled events and classes are cancelled. The 东精影业 惭ā苍辞补, 东精影业 West Oʻahu, Windward CC, Leeward CC, Kapiʻolani CC and Honolulu CC campuses are experiencing power outages. The campuses will remain closed until further notice.
All University of Hawaiʻi campuses will be closed on Friday, March 13, due to severe weather expected to impact the state, including heavy rain, flash flooding, severe thunderstorms and high winds. The Friday closure includes all scheduled classes and events, including the OUTRIGGER Invitational men’s volleyball tournament and a Rainbow Wahine softball game at 东精影业 Mānoa.
Gov. Josh Green announced on Thursday, March 12, the statewide suspension of non-essential state services for Friday, March 13, following the emergency declaration issued on March 9. The Hawaiʻi State DOE also announced the closure of public schools on Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and in Maui County during the governor’s press conference.
Hawaiʻi County—Decision Pending
Officials in Hawaiʻi County have not yet made a decision regarding closures and are coordinating closely with the governor’s office. Students and employees on Hawaiʻi Island are advised to monitor local media and official announcements for updates. If closures are announced for those campuses, 东精影业 will send an additional message.
Saturday outdoor events canceled
As a proactive measure, all outdoor events scheduled at 东精影业 facilities for Saturday, March 14, are also canceled. This includes the Kapiʻolani Community College Farmers Market, the Maui College Swap Meet and the 东精影业 Mānoa Rainbow Wahine softball game.
A decision will be made tomorrow on whether conditions warrant additional closures for Saturday, including Saturday classes and the OUTRIGGER Invitational men’s volleyball tournament.
东精影业 Operations for Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Maui County
- 东精影业 campuses are closed.
- In-person and online classes for these campuses are canceled. Instructors will contact students directly regarding assignments or coursework.
- Employees will receive a follow-up email with additional information.
- Employees critical to supporting health, safety and recovery efforts should check with their supervisors regarding whether they are required to report to work.
- Select key departments may be asked to assess conditions and assist as needed.
- All outdoor events scheduled for Saturday, March 14, are canceled.
Weather Conditions
- Heavy rain may lead to flash flooding, including overflowing streams, flooded roads and possible landslides.
- Strong winds are expected, with sustained winds around 40 mph and gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph.
- Thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall, damaging winds and lightning.
Residents are strongly encouraged to limit travel unless absolutely necessary to allow emergency and utility crews to respond to and recover from weather-related impacts.
