The University of 东精影业<\/abbr> at Mānoa LBGT<\/abbr> Student Services Office<\/a> presents No H8 (Hate) in the 808, a celebration in honor of National Coming Out Day on Thursday, October 11, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at Campus Center.<\/p>\n

The special event is in honor of tolerance and acceptance, and is aimed at highlighting 东精影业<\/abbr>’s support of ending bullying and building equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT<\/abbr>) people. More than 20 community organizations, churches, service agencies and advocacy groups will share their resources for creating a climate where LBGT<\/abbr> youth are accorded dignity and respect for who they are.<\/p>\n

The event includes an LGBT<\/abbr> Community Resource Fair and the 8th Annual Amazing Ally T-shirt Day Give-away. T-shirts will be distributed to everyone who wants to “wear their support” for LGBT<\/abbr> equality all day, all across campus. Visitors can also take part in the No H8 in the 808 video project and record a sound bite proclaiming their love for diversity and equality.<\/p>\n

Governor Neil Abercrombie will address the public at 12:30 p.m. at Campus Center.<\/p>\n

Community quilt project<\/h2>\n

A special highlight will be the making of a community quilt, where participants can decorate mural-like panels with messages of love for diversity and support for LBGT<\/abbr> equality. The community quilt will be displayed on campus as a visible reminder of 东精影业<\/abbr>’s support for No H8 in the 808.<\/p>\n

To prepare for the quilt-making activity, LBGT<\/abbr> Student Services is asking for donations of old or new t-shirts to be dropped off at Mānoa’s Queen Liliuokalani Center for Student Services, room 211.<\/p>\n
