in regards to where we find ourselves individually or collectively, depends upon the moment we choose to look at, where we have been in the past and where we are at this moment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is a significant exhibition showing 12 of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s most prominent artists together at the same time and in the same place,&rdquo; a faculty member in Art at <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College since 1988.<\/li>\n<li>Sanit Khewhok, a painter, sculptor, curator, conservator and art restorer who has been an active member of the Honolulu art community since 1986.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tom Klobe<\/strong>, professor emeritus and founding director of the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at Ma\u0304noa\u2019s Art Gallery, designing more than 200 exhibitions over 29 years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adam LeBlanc<\/strong>, a painter and sculptor who has exhibited his work at Honolulu Museum of Art at Linekona, Koa Gallery and group exhibits at <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr>.<\/li>\n<li>Katherine Love, who works in mixed media paintings, drawings and installations that explore the relationship between opposing forces of wildness and domesticity.<\/li>\n<li>Hal Lum, who sees himself as an abstract painter with work represented nationally in private collections and at the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> State Foundation on Culture and Arts.<\/li>\n<li>Noreen Naughton, currently a full-time artist painting abstract configurations within a motif in her studio overlooking <span aria-label=\"Ka\u0304neohe\">Ka\u0304ne&#699;ohe<\/span> Bay.<\/li>\n<li>Diane Nushida-Tokuno, a sculptor, calls attention to the effects of our relationship with nature and has been featured in the Textile Arts Center in Chicago.<\/li>\n<li>Joseph Stanton, an advocate for poetry, who has lived in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> since 1972 and creates mixed-media poetry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Russell Sunabe<\/strong>, a painter, returned from artist-in-residence in New York City teaching at Hunter College to teach at UH M\u0101noa, who currently practices his craft and exhibits in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Lori Uyehara, whose work is represented in the collections of the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and Honolulu Museum of Art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Event details<\/h2>\n<p><em>Where Are We?<\/em> will be on display from January 31 to March 1, 1&#8211;5 p.m. Monday&#8211;Friday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>On January 31, there is an opening reception 4&#8211;7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>An artist talk will take place on February 9, 3&#8211;4 p.m. Joe Stanton will read his poetry and Adam LeBlanc will discuss a collaborative piece by himself and Stanton.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the exhibition, contact Gallery &#699;Iolani Director Toni Martin at (808) 236-9155 or <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.windward.hawaii.edu\">visit the gallery website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The exhibit, <em>Where are We?<\/em> looks at where we find ourselves individually or collectively, where we have been in the past and where we are at this moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26],"tags":[105,156,71,66],"class_list":["post-110193","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community","tag-art","tag-gallery-iolani","tag-uh-community-colleges","tag-windward-community-college","entry","has-media"],"aioseo_notices":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/110193","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/16"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=110193"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/110193\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":110229,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/110193\/revisions\/110229"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=110193"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=110193"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=110193"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
