From left, Mattingly Morales, Jonah Johnson, Maya Mastick, Ethan Lau and Noah Chung.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Students from five schools around the state put their ocean science skills to the test in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\u2019s\">Hawai&#699;i\u2019s<\/span> 16th regional Aloha Bowl as part of the 23rd annual <a href=\"http:\/\/nosb.org\/\">National Ocean Sciences Bowl<\/a> (<abbr title=\"National Ocean Sciences Bowl\">NOSB<\/abbr>) on February 15. Ocean science is not a course generally offered at the high school level. The competitions held across the U.S. allow high school students to gain exposure to ocean science and related careers.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;All the teams performed spectacularly, it\u2019s always a joy to see how the competition continues to grow and drive students to new heights every year,&rdquo; said Holland.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 30 volunteers from different schools, departments across <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa, and other local organizations made the event possible.<\/p>\n<p> View photos from the 2020 Aloha Bowl on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/uhseagrant\/albums\/72157713166879368\">Flickr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>More on <abbr>NOSB<\/abbr><\/h2>\n<p><abbr>NOSB<\/abbr> was developed to stimulate interest among high school students in the ocean sciences and demonstrate to the public the importance of the oceans.
