But words like &lsquo;amazing,&rsquo; &lsquo;committed,&rsquo; &lsquo;resilient,&rsquo; &lsquo;collaborative,&rsquo; &lsquo;innovative&rsquo; and &lsquo;compassionate&rsquo; are what I use frequently to describe what our faculty, staff and students have accomplished during this crisis.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We all have been challenged in this semester like no other, and the future is far from clear. The award was established to recognize Agbayani\u2019s lifetime commitment to diversity and social justice in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. The award recognizes up to two tenured\/tenure-track faculty mentors each academic year (one from a <abbr title=\"science technology engineering and math\">STEM<\/abbr> discipline, and one from a non-<abbr>STEM<\/abbr> discipline) who have shown dedicated and sustained excellence in faculty mentoring of undergraduate students in their research and creative work endeavors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brittany Biggs<\/strong>, assistant professor, <a href=\"http:\/\/acm.hawaii.edu\">Academy for Creative Media<\/a><br \/>\nBiggs creates hands-on, practical mentorship projects that help students excel in their academic studies and prepare them for future careers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pratibha Nerurkar<\/strong>, associate professor, <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/mbbe\/\">Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering<\/a> <br \/>\nNerurkar regards undergraduate research and mentoring as a &ldquo;high impact Advisor and Academic Unit of the Year Award<\/h3>\n<p>The Council of Academic Advisors recognizes an individual or unit who, over the past two years, has demonstrated excellence and\/or innovation in advising, and\/or has made a significant contribution to the advising community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megumi Makino-Kanehiro<\/strong>, director, <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/undergrad\/mac\/\">M\u0101noa Advising Center<\/a><br \/>\nMakino-Kanehiro\u2019s passion is equity and diversity, which is evident in both her advising philosophy and in her work and service as an advisor.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/undergrad\/transfer\/\">The M\u0101noa Transfer Coordination Center<\/a> <\/strong><br \/>\nEstablished in 2014, the center implements and manages the <span aria-label=\"Kaieie\">Ka&#699;ie&#699;ie<\/span> Degree Pathway Program, a dual-admission, dual-enrollment partnership between the endeavors by students while they pursue a degree at the doctoral, master\u2019s or bachelor\u2019s level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zhoujian (ZJ) Zhan<\/strong>, <abbr>PhD<\/abbr> candidate, Institute for Astronomy<br \/>\nZhang is using his discoveries to characterize their atmospheres and demographics in order to understand the wide diversity of exoplanetary systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joy Agner<\/strong>, <abbr>PhD<\/abbr> candidate, <a href=\"https:\/\/psychology.manoa.hawaii.edu\">Department of Psychology<\/a><br \/>\nAgner\u2019s research focuses on improving health systems and policy for marginalized populations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marley Aiu<\/strong>, bachelor\u2019s candidate, <a href=\"http:\/\/english.hawaii.edu\">English<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/dance\/\">Dance<\/a> <br \/>\nAiu uses creative research (choreography, creative writing, film and photography) to both educate and empower local and the Year Award<\/h3>\n<p>The Student Employee of the Year Program was created in 1986 by the M\u0101noa Career Center to recognize and highlight the achievements and contributions of student employees on the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lindsey Bull<\/strong>, student assistant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soest.hawaii.edu\/jimar\/\">Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research<\/a><br \/>\nBull worked with the marine turtle biology and assessment program for more than three years and conducted research on the effects of sea turtle nest incubation temperature upon
