Business Night was moved online in 2020.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Shidler College of Business<\/a> at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s premier student event joined the myriad of events that had to transition to an online format to ensure it can honor its students.<\/p>\n

Business Night<\/em>, which is traditionally an in-person opportunity for students to network with professionals, went virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event\u2019s online site<\/a> features video speeches from Vance Roley<\/strong>, dean of the Shidler College of Business; Kelly Zheng<\/strong>, undergraduate student and Business Night<\/em> executive director; Jeff Shonka, First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH<\/abbr>) president and CEO<\/abbr>; and Julie Arigo, Halepuna Waikiki general manager. The site also highlightes student award winners and testimonials.<\/p>\n

“With difficult challenges ahead for many businesses, we were thrilled by the number of companies that agreed to continue their award sponsorship and honor deserving students during this unprecedented crisis,” Roley said. “We are extremely appreciative for their support and grateful to First Insurance for continuing their title sponsorship despite the cancelation of the in-person event.”<\/p>\n

Through the generous support of title sponsor FICOH<\/abbr>, media sponsor Hawaii Business<\/em> and the Hawaiʻi<\/span> business community, the college presented 48 awards to undergraduate and graduate business students totaling $87,000.<\/p>\n
