Patients who receive care at these centers pay for their care on a sliding scale discount, depending upon their household incomes.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahec.hawaii.edu\">Area Health Education Center<\/a> (<abbr>AHEC<\/abbr>) and the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telehealthresourcecenter.org\/pbtrc\/\">Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center<\/a> (<abbr>PBTRC<\/abbr>), in collaboration with the Department of Health (<abbr>DOH<\/abbr>), played a key role in providing the necessary policy guidance and technical support for community health centers to take advantage of new federal telehealth reimbursement policies. This has included weekly webinars on the basics of telehealth for providers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related <em>东精影业 News<\/em> story:<\/strong> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2020\/04\/17\/uh-promotes-telehealth-since-2010\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> promotes the use of telehealth since 2010<\/a><\/em>, April 17, 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;With our extensive network of telehealth resources prior to the public health emergency, we were able to mobilize the support needed for advancing telehealth in our community, helping our most vulnerable populations,&rdquo; said <abbr>PBTRC<\/abbr> Co-Director <strong>Christina Higa<\/strong>. &ldquo;We really appreciate the partnership and will continue to work through the transition to our new normal, which will certainly include continued use of telehealth in healthcare.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>State and federal telehealth grants totaling $670,000 aided <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> and the <abbr>DOH<\/abbr> to provide vital support to community health centers statewide, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>H\u0101m\u0101kua Health Center (<span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Island) <\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"KaU\">Ka&#699;&#363;<\/span> Rural Health Community Association, Inc. (a community-based nonprofit organization in P\u0101hala on <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Island)  <\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Lanai\">L&#257;na&#699;i<\/span> Community Health Center (<span aria-label=\"Lanai\">L&#257;na&#699;i<\/span>)<\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Hoola\">Ho&#699;ola<\/span> L\u0101hui <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> (<span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span>) <\/li>\n<li>Wahiaw\u0101 Health Center (<span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>) <\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Waianae\">Wai&#699;anae<\/span> Coast Comprehensive Health Center (<span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>) <\/li>\n<li>K\u014dkua Kalihi Valley (<span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>)<\/li>\n<li><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa John A. Burns School of Medicine&#8212;Area Health Education Center\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to primary care, patients have been able to access behavioral healthcare services and <abbr>COVID-19<\/abbr> screening via <a href=\"https:\/\/covidhawaii.info\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> UTelehealth<\/a>. The screening tools were developed by <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> in collaboration with <abbr>PBTRC<\/abbr>. Other partners include University Health Partners of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and <abbr>DOH<\/abbr>. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Through <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> UTelehealth, we are hoping to reach the patients without insurance, without a provider, or outside of the reach of the usual healthcare system,&rdquo; said <strong>Kelley Withy<\/strong>, <abbr>AHEC<\/abbr> Director.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>AHEC<\/abbr> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> aims to improve the health of the underserved through education, focusing on recruitment, health and workforce needs assessments, and improving distance learning and telehealth utilization.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2010, <abbr>PBTRC<\/abbr> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsciences.hawaii.edu\">College of Social Sciences<\/a> has been advocating for telehealth.
