Just over 30 years ago, on July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA<\/abbr>) to ensure the civil rights of people with disabilities. The ADA<\/abbr> has expanded opportunities for Americans with disabilities by prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities, reducing barriers, changing perceptions and increasing full participation in many aspects of living, learning and working.<\/p>\n

The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> would like to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this key moment in history and recognize the progress made since 1990 by reaffirming the principles of equality and inclusion and recommitting our efforts to be ADA<\/abbr> compliant.<\/p>\n

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM<\/abbr>), an annual awareness campaign established 75 years ago, with this year\u2019s theme being “Increasing Access and Opportunity.” Throughout the next few months, all ten 东精影业<\/abbr> campuses will be engaging in activities that may include education and awareness on disability employment issues and our commitment to inclusive work culture.<\/p>\n

We want to spread the important message that we value all perspectives and contributions, including those of individuals with disabilities.
