The live conversation will include interviews with acclaimed <abbr title=\"University of California, Los Angeles\">UCLA<\/abbr> historian Ellen Carol Dubois, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> State Department of Education (<abbr>HIDOE<\/abbr>) Superintendent Christina Kishimoto, and speakers from Common Cause <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> State Commission on the Status of Women. This was true globally, with significant leadership shown by women in Asia, the Pacific and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, as well as many other world regions,&rdquo; said <strong>Shana Brown<\/strong>, <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa history department chair. &ldquo;The centennial of the landmark achievement in the <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> reminds us of the effectiveness of unified direct action in the name of increasing liberty and justice for all.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s suffrage movement achieved the largest extension of voting rights in American history. Founded by abolitionists, the struggle took shape over 70 years, pioneering tactics that still define public protest, from petition drives to hunger strikes.
