Mink Leadership Alliance welcomes a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leeward.hawaii.edu\/\">Leeward Community College<\/a> faculty member for its fifth cohort since 2016. Performing Arts Certification Program Coordinator <strong>Loretta Chen<\/strong> was one of 15 women leaders selected for her contributions to education, arts, community, women and youth.<\/p>\n<p>Named in honor of the late Patsy T. Mink, who was both the first Asian-American woman and the first woman from <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> to serve in the <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> Congress, the program is offered through the Patsy T. Mink Center for Business &#38; Leadership, a department of <abbr title=\"Young Women's Christian Association\">YWCA<\/abbr> <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>. It is, rather, a disciplined mental model, guiding principle and demonstration of an ability to serve,&rdquo; said Chen. &ldquo;I am honored and humbled to be part of this cohort of leaders to learn, share and serve the Hawaiian community and my new <span aria-label=\"ohana\">&#699;ohana<\/span>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Chen was fully sponsored by five women who were featured in her book, <em>Inspiring Women of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span><\/em>, marking the first time the <abbr>YWCA<\/abbr> allowed individual sponsorship of a participant. Her sponsors are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Christine Camp (President\/<abbr title=\"Chief Executive Officer\">CEO<\/abbr>, Avalon Group)<\/li>\n<li>Kathy Inouye (Senior Advisor, Kobayashi Group)<\/li>\n<li>Connie Lau (President\/<abbr>CEO<\/abbr>, American Savings Bank\/Hawaiian Electric Industries)<\/li>\n<li>Catherine Ngo (President\/<abbr>CEO<\/abbr>, Central Pacific Bank)<\/li>\n<li>Crystal K.
