Greg Barber<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Hawaiʻi<\/span> Community College<\/a> Building Maintenance Worker Greg Barber<\/strong> was recognized with the President’s Award for Excellence in Building and Grounds Maintenance<\/a> for 2012.<\/p>\n

The award honors ¶«¾«Ó°Òµ<\/abbr> employees who exhibit dedication and sustained superior performance in a maintenance, landscaping, custodial, shop or trucking position.<\/p>\n

Barber joined the planning, operations and maintenance department at Hawaiʻi<\/span> CC<\/abbr> in 2009. Since then, his supervisor says Barber has saved the college more than $200,000.<\/p>\n

Barber is described as a resourceful leader with a positive attitude. He has taken the initiative to learn about photovoltaics, electrical maintenance and carpentry. He even became a certified locksmith and uses his knowledge to increase the efficiency of his department.<\/p>\n

Barber was raised in eastern Oregon and came to Hawaiʻi<\/span> because he married a local girl. Barber is the father of three girls and one boy. His youngest attends Hawaiʻi<\/span> CC<\/abbr>. In his spare time, Barber enjoys paddling with the University Canoe Club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
