(photo courtesy of <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arch.hawaii.edu\/\">School of Architecture<\/a> and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (<abbr>CSCEC<\/abbr>) signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on design, sustainability and urbanization issues within architecture practice and education.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>CSCEC<\/abbr>, China&#8217;s largest international design and construction firm, is known for constructing 80 percent of buildings over 30 stories high in China.<\/p>\n<p>The signing ceremony took place on the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa<\/a> campus on Tuesday, February 12, when Chancellor <strong>Tom Apple<\/strong>, School of Architecture Dean <strong>Clark Llewellyn<\/strong> and other campus leaders welcomed representatives from <abbr>CSCEC<\/abbr>, including general manager Fuchun Sun.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will create opportunities for the two entities to focus on present and future needs in natural and built environments, including joint research, training and faculty and staff exchange.
