In a post COVID-19 world, innovation and entrepreneurship through talent from <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr>\u2019s students, faculty and staff will play a significant role in helping to shape our future. How <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> has and will continue to impact innovation in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and across the world will be on display at <a href=\"https:\/\/research.hawaii.edu\/blending-of-culture-and-science\/\">A <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Innovation Virtual Conference<\/a> hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation<\/a>, November 15&#8211;17.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual conference is free and open to the first 1,000 participants. <a href=\"https:\/\/research.hawaii.edu\/blending-of-culture-and-science\/\">Register online<\/a>. Innovation is the topic for the third and final day of the conference on November 17, 8&#8211;10 a.m. The journeys of three successful <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> innovations will be featured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Battery Health is by <strong>Matthieu Dubarry<\/strong>, an assistant researcher from <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hnei.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Natural Energy Institute<\/a>. Dubarry conducts research in battery testing and modeling. His research on battery performance, charging and degradation, led to his development of the <span aria-label=\"Alawa\">&#699;Alawa<\/span> Toolbox, a powerful tool for battery diagnosis and prognosis.<\/li>\n<li>Nanotech is by <strong>Mehrdad Nejhad<\/strong>, a <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"https:\/\/me.hawaii.edu\/\">mechanical engineering<\/a> professor. Nejhad has partnered with Goodman Technologies <abbr title=\"Limited Liability Company\">LLC<\/abbr> to apply advancements in nano-composites into real world applications for the Department of Defense and <abbr title=\"National Aeronautics and Space Administration\">NASA<\/abbr>. Together they have won multiple Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer awards totaling more than $4.5 million.<\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Innovation Lab is led by <strong>Arif Rahman<\/strong>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/ee.hawaii.edu\/home\/\">electrical engineering<\/a> postdoctoral fellow. They are developing a low-cost liquid metal coating for concentrated solar power polymeric mirrors. This technology was developed out of <strong>Professor Aaron Ohta<\/strong>\u2019s lab in the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Engineering<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A live panel discussion, &ldquo;Perseverance, Partnership and Place&#8212;What It Takes to Succeed,&rdquo; moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/research.hawaii.edu\/oic\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Office of Innovation and Commercialization<\/a> Interim Director <strong>Steve Auerbach<\/strong>, will feature <strong>Olga Boric-Lubecke<\/strong>, <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa electrical engineering professor and co-founder and president of Adnoviv, <abbr>LLC<\/abbr>; Heidi Kuehnle, founder of Kuehnle Agrosystems, <abbr title=\"Incorporated\">Inc<\/abbr>.; Keoni Lee, chief executive officer of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Investment Ready; and Cindy Wu, co-founder of Jelly and founder of Experiment.
