Through November 19, the <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/exchange\/\">Center for Global Education and Exchange<\/a> has arranged activities online and on campus that showcase food, history, music and scenery from various cultures. The activities are designed to share international education with the entire Vulcan community.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>IEW<\/abbr> aims to share the essence of cultural exploration and excitement with students in the U.S. who may not have had much international exposure,&rdquo; said <strong>Mika Odaira<\/strong>, a junior at <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo Study Abroad Program advisory.<\/p>\n<h2>International food spotlight<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo\u2019s main dining room has been featuring unique dishes from around the world for the week-long event. Sodexo food services is offering specials from countries such as Cuba, Thailand, France and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We know that we may not be able to 100% match the taste [international students] are used to, but it is our hope that we can at least make them feel a little more settled here in Hilo,&rdquo; said <strong>Reid Kusano<\/strong>, catering and retail manager at <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo.<\/p>\n<h2>Photo submissions<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_152047\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152047\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/hilo-international-photo-contest-feature-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Collage of international photos\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-152047\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/hilo-international-photo-contest-feature-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/hilo-international-photo-contest-feature-130x130.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/hilo-international-photo-contest-feature.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-152047\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">International Education Week photo contest submissions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Students also have an opportunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/design\/DAEuVmeugfQ\/6p3snxL7_JtNpwM3_tAJMg\/view?website#2:submit-photos-from-your-vacation-study-abroad-or-any-travel-experiences-for-this-photo-contest.-submission-closes-sunday-november-14-2021\">cast votes in the international photo contest<\/a>. Submissions depict photos from student experiences studying abroad, vacationing or other travel experiences. Organizers encouraged participants to share how they saw and experienced cultures from around the world.<\/p>\n<h2>International trivia night<\/h2>\n<p>Trivia Night activities also share the rich history of the many cultures explored by study abroad.
