From left: Lepe-o-Hina (the shawl of Hina) and <em>Bryopsis pennata<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/mop\/\">Marine Option Program<\/a> (<abbr>MOP<\/abbr>) recognized six students from across four <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> campuses for their resounding excellence in marine science. The 39th annual statewide <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Student Symposium held on April 16 via Zoom, awarded the haum&#257;na (students) after their projects were presented at the virtual event.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These students made discoveries and developed new personal skills, culminating in their presentations at the annual <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Student Symposium that wowed the audience,&rdquo; said <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Director <strong>Cynthia Hunter<\/strong>. &ldquo;We continue to be so proud of and impressed by their hard work and ingenuity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Olivia Jarvis<\/strong> (<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo) won Best Research Paper for &ldquo;Observing Patterns in <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Turtle Tagging Data Through Statistical Analyses.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lily Gavagan<\/strong> (<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo) won Best Internship Paper for &ldquo;Analyzing Coral Reef Health At The Papah&#257;naumoku&#257;kea Marine National Monument.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dylan Kelling<\/strong> (<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo) captured the Sherwood Maynard Award for Ocean Impact for &ldquo;Hoe! <span aria-label=\"O\">&#699;&#332;<\/span>, <span aria-label=\"O\">&#699;&#332;<\/span>, <span aria-label=\"Oia\">&#699;&#332;ia!<\/span> Integrating Traditional Hawaiian Protocols Into Marine Field And Lab Courses.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kelsie Kuniyoshi<\/strong> (<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa) earned the Anna Toy Ng Memorial <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Scholarship for &ldquo;Utilizing Graphic Design Principles For Effective Outreach And Education.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gwen Arkin<\/strong> (<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Maui College) won the John P. Craven Award for &ldquo;Photographs of Hawaiian Algae: Cyanotype Impressions.&rdquo; <\/li>\n<li><strong>Cameron Lau<\/strong> (Windward Community College) captured the <abbr>PACON<\/abbr> International, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Chapter, <abbr>MOP<\/abbr> Symposium Award for &ldquo;Waikalua Loko <span aria-label=\"Ia\">I&#699;a<\/span> Native Oyster Study.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr>MOP<\/abbr> is a systemwide certificate program, offered on all <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> campuses, providing educational opportunities for students from all disciplines who are interested in the ocean.
