Years in the making, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/eddiekamaesongbook.org\/\">The Eddie Kamae Songbook: A Musical Journey<\/a><\/em> is a collection of 34 songs that were meaningful to his journey as a musician, filmmaker and Hawaiian son.<\/p>\n<p>The songbook was produced by Eddie &#38; Myrna Kamae\u2019s The Hawaiian Legacy Foundation (<abbr>HLF<\/abbr>) in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>&#8211;West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/uluulu.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Uluulu\">&#699;Ulu&#699;ulu<\/span>: The Henry <span aria-label=\"Kuualoha\">Ku&#699;ualoha<\/span> Giugni Moving Image Archive<\/a>. His life work was committed to building an archive of the stories and music of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. This songbook ensures that songs shared with Eddie, and those he composed, can be played and sung by families, children, students, musicians, and lovers of Hawaiian music,&rdquo; said his wife Myrna Kamae, <abbr>HLF<\/abbr> executive director. &ldquo;We are so excited to share this gift!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Eddie Kamae Songbook<\/em> includes direct links to the descriptive catalog records and short streaming video clips in the <a href=\"http:\/\/uluulu.hawaii.edu\/titles\/8162\">Hawaiian Legacy Foundation: Eddie &#38; Myrna Kamae collection<\/a> on <span aria-label=\"Uluulu\">&#699;Ulu&#699;ulu<\/span>&#8216;s website. Researchers may contact <span aria-label=\"Uluulu\">&#699;Ulu&#699;ulu<\/span> to view full length digital footage from the collection.<\/p>\n<p>A launch event is scheduled for May 1 at The Royal Grove, Royal Hawaiian Center, from noon to 6 p.m. The program features the music of Eddie Kamae &#38; The Sons of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> performed by Paul Kim, Analu Aina, Mike Kaawa, Ocean Kaowili and the Grandsons of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, Waipuna, Waim\u0101nalo Sunset Band and other guest artists kanikapila style.<\/p>\n<h2><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> participates in production<\/h2>\n<p>Several <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> members participated in the production of the songbook. <strong>Kawena Komeiji<\/strong>, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>-Pacific resources librarian, was a songbook reviewer and gave feedback on the design, curriculum and mele translation. Curriculum Specialist <strong>Lilinoe Andrews<\/strong> wrote and researched the text, and updated the song translations. <span aria-label=\"Uluulu\">&#699;Ulu&#699;ulu<\/span>&#8216;s staff contributed to this project, including <strong>Haunani Haia<\/strong>, <abbr>HLF<\/abbr> Archives project assistant, and Associate Professor of Music <strong>Jon Magnussen<\/strong>, who reviewed the songbook. <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Librarian and archivist <strong>Kapena Shim<\/strong> was a member of the Hui Hana songbook team along with Myrna Kamae and Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>Each song is presented as a <span aria-label=\"pUolo\">p&#363;&#699;olo<\/span> (bundle) that contains sheet music, lyrics and translations, audio and video recordings of Kamae and fellow musicians, the story of the song, educational questions, a bibliography, and many print resources from the Kamae archive.
