Basic needs include food and housing, childcare, mental health, financial resources and transportation, among others. In addition, 58&#37; of students who experienced basic needs insecurity did not apply for campus support because they did not know how.<\/p>\n<p>To help support <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> students statewide, the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Student Basic Needs Committee has completed the first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vQ_3Hi9KBrQ\">Student Basic Needs Outreach Video<\/a> to highlight resources that are available. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to circulate this video and related information widely. Student basic needs security is critical for ensuring strong academic performance, persistence, graduation and overall student well-being.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/kapiolani-nursing-volunteers-basic-needs-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Food drive volunteers in masks flashing shaka\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-156866\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/kapiolani-nursing-volunteers-basic-needs-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/kapiolani-nursing-volunteers-basic-needs-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/kapiolani-nursing-volunteers-basic-needs.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Anyone experiencing basic needs insecurity or who knows of someone with these needs is encouraged to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/student-basic-needs\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Student Basic Needs website<\/a>, which makes it simple for students to access basic needs resources at the campus level,&rdquo; said <strong>Rainbow <span aria-label=\"Ulii\">Uli&#699;i<\/span><\/strong>, <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> student basic needs coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, using the findhelp.com search engine on the site allows anyone with a <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> username and password to access resources at the community, state and federal levels. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/student-basic-needs\/current-events\/\">Previously recorded webinars<\/a> that assist with navigation of these resources can also be found on the website.<\/p>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/07448481.2021.1978456\">studies<\/a> show that many U.S. college students experience some form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/19320248.2018.1484316\">food<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1177\/0890117120946210\">other basic needs insecurity<\/a>, and that these conditions have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/10.1073\/pnas.2111787119\">exacerbated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Student Basic Needs Committee is committed to ensuring that the basic needs of all <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> students are met. The launch of the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Basic Needs website in 2021 was followed by the publication of the first ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/student-basic-needs\/master-plan-3-year-strategy\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> System Student Basic Needs Master Plan<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>A key recommendation of the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> System Student Basic Needs Master Plan was to produce public-facing education and outreach materials and events to help raise awareness of the issue of basic needs insecurity and to destigmatize students accessing basic needs support.
