It’s win number one for the Head Coach Timmy Chang era! The University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warrior football team took down Duquesne, 24-14, on September 17 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex for its first win of the season and a victory on homecoming night.

Leading the way for the Rainbow Warriors was senior running back Dedrick Parson with 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side, senior linebacker Penei Pavihi contributed four tackles and a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter. Senior defensive back Malik Hausman added two interceptions, including one that sealed the game with less than two minutes left.

“I’m really proud of how our guys played in all three phases,” Chang said. “At times, defense was on the field for the whole third quarter and got two big stops. I thought that was really important, building momentum, understanding that the corrections need to be made because here comes the next opponent. That’s how college football goes. It’s good to get the first win, but my mind’s already working on how we can correct problems and get these guys in the position to win the next one.”

Everything about this is worthy of a high five!
