The public is invited to attend free literary events featuring award-winning writers <strong>Joseph Han<\/strong>, Rajiv Mohabir and Hala Alyan. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are excited to bring back the warmth of in-person gatherings and the opportunity to meet with writers in person and hear their work,&rdquo; said <strong>Shawna Yang Ryan<\/strong>, <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa associate professor of English and director of the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Creative Writing Program. <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, there will be an online event with novelist Devi Laskar, who won awards for her debut novel <em>The Atlas of Reds and Blues<\/em>. Mohabir and Alyan will be visiting <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> from the East Coast. <\/p>\n<h2>More on the award-winning writers<\/h2>\n<p>The writers represent a diversity of genres. Han was named a 2022 National Book Foundation 5 under 35 honoree for his debut novel, <em>Nuclear Family<\/em>.  <\/p>\n<p>Alyan is a poet and novelist, and her novel, <em>Salt Houses<\/em>, was the winner of the Arab American Book Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. <\/p>\n<h2>Poet and translator<\/h2>\n<p>Mohabir is a professor at Emerson College. He was a finalist for the 2022 PEN Open Book Award and the 2021 National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. <\/p>\n<p>All events are located on the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa campus.
