The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa women’s tennis<\/a> team defeated San Jose State University (SJSU<\/abbr>), 4-3 on January 19 at the 东精影业<\/abbr> Tennis Complex. SJSU<\/abbr> captured the doubles point to start the day, but the Rainbow Wahine rallied, recording four singles victories with Madison Kim<\/strong> clinching the match on the No. 5 court.<\/p>\n

In doubles, the Rainbow Wahine No. 3 duo of Alexis Merrill<\/strong> and Kim started with a 6-1 win. SJSU<\/abbr>\u2019s No. 2 pairing held off 东精影业<\/abbr>, 6-3 to even things up. The doubles point was decided on the No. 1 court as SJSU<\/abbr> squeaked past 东精影业<\/abbr> in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (0) to take a 1-0 lead in the match.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Wahine quickly turned things around with a 2-1 match lead as Klara Novacova<\/strong> led the singles matches with a sweep over SJSU<\/abbr>‘s Raquel Pereira, 6-2, 6-3, while 东精影业<\/abbr>\u2019s Satsuki Takamura<\/strong> took down SJSU<\/abbr>\u2019s Irena Muradyan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. SJSU<\/abbr> then evened the match at 2-2 with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win on the No. 6 court. The Rainbow Wahine followed by winning the next two matches as Ana Vilcek<\/strong> defeated Perero Galindo by a break in both sets, 6-4, 6-4, and Kim finally clinched the match in three tough sets, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.<\/p>\n

东精影业<\/abbr> will return to the courts on January 20 as they take on the University of Washington. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the 东精影业<\/abbr> Tennis Complex.<\/p>\n
