M\u0101lama <span aria-label=\"ia\">&#699;ia<\/span> k\u0113ia l\u0101 i hiki ai i n\u0101 haum\u0101na <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> ke launa p\u016b me n\u0101 hoa papa, n\u0101 kumu a me n\u0101 limahana ma o ka <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, <span aria-label=\"o\">&#699;o<\/span> ia <span aria-label=\"hoi\">ho&#699;i<\/span> ka <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> makuahine o k\u0113ia <span aria-label=\"aina\">&#699;&#257;ina<\/span> o <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> nei. (Kawaihuelani\u2019s motto is &lsquo;I pono n\u0101 mamo a H\u0101loa&rsquo; so that is the goal of this event &lsquo;L\u0101 Launa P\u016b.&rsquo; Our hope is to have <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> heard at the university, in the community, around <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and the world. The first Hawaiian language courses were offered at <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa in 1922.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured food, kanikapila (music) and traditional Native Hawaiian games to celebrate Makahiki (traditional Hawaiian observance marking time of year for harvest and peace). 东精影业ees played ancient <span aria-label=\"paani\">p&#257;&#699;ani<\/span> makahiki (makahiki games) such as the stone rolling game ulu maika, and hukihuki, a form of tug of war.<\/p>\n<p>Preschool-age haum\u0101na from P\u016bnana Leo o M\u0101noa were among Hawaiian language speakers of all ages who also participated in the day\u2019s events.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He mea nui ka <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> no kekahi l\u0101hui. <span aria-label=\"Hauoli\">Hau&#699;oli<\/span> n&#333; au i ka lohe <span aria-label=\"ana\">&#699;ana<\/span> i ka <span aria-label=\"olelo\">&#699;&#333;lelo<\/span> <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> ma n\u0101 wahi like <span aria-label=\"ole\">&#699;ole<\/span> a me ka <span aria-label=\"ike\">&#699;ike<\/span> <span aria-label=\"ana\">&#699;ana<\/span> i ka <span aria-label=\"haaheo\">ha&#699;aheo<\/span> o n&#257; haum&#257;na e <span aria-label=\"hoomau\">ho&#699;omau<\/span> ana i n&#257; mea <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. (The language of a people is vital.
