Reeler connects small-scale fishermen directly to consumers via its mobile app.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Innovation and entrepreneurship excellence at the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> were on full display as more than a dozen alumni and students received 2023 awards from the <a href=\"https:\/\/hvca.org\/\">Hawaii Venture Capital Association<\/a>. The success of these entrepreneurs are examples of one of the goals in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/strategic-plan\/\"><abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr>\u2019s Strategic Plan 2023&#8211;2029<\/a>: Diversify <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s economy through <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> innovation and research.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the awardees are either current <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa students or recent graduates who have participated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/pace.shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship<\/a> (<abbr>PACE<\/abbr>) program in the <a href=\"https:\/\/shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Shidler College of Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Pierce<\/strong> and <strong>Spencer VanDerKamp<\/strong> were finalists for the Social Impact Entrepreneur of the Year award. The <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa alumni earned more than $30,000 in funding and services through <abbr>PACE<\/abbr> programs: <a href=\"https:\/\/pace.shidler.hawaii.edu\/uhvc\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Venture Competition<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pace.shidler.hawaii.edu\/liftoff\/\">Liftoff Advisors Program<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pace.shidler.hawaii.edu\/venture-fund\/\">Calvin Shindo Student Venture Fund<\/a>. Pear Suite is a software company that aims to better address the social drivers of health for older adults, which include increasing access to healthcare through transportation options, increasing the availability of healthy food, and getting them connected to technology for telehealth and more.
