Two student-athletes from the nationally-ranked University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Hilo baseball<\/a> team were recognized with weekly honors on March 14. Aaron Davies<\/strong> was named PacWest<\/abbr> Pitcher of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II<\/abbr> West Region<\/a> Pitcher of the Week. Casey Yamauchi<\/strong> was named PacWest<\/abbr> Co-Player of the Week.<\/p>\n

Davies, a senior, was outstanding in relief and as a starter for 东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo in four games against Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU<\/abbr>), March 6–7, and against Azusa Pacific University (APU<\/abbr>), March 11–13. In 11 total innings and wins against PLNU<\/abbr> and APU<\/abbr>, Davies gave up just five total hits, no earned runs, walked only two and struck out six. He is 3-0 on the season with a 1.29 ERA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

Yamauchi, a fifth-year senior, swung a hot bat as he helped 东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo to a 4-4 mark against PLNU<\/abbr> and APU<\/abbr>. Across eight games, he hit .444 (12-for-27) with 11 runs scored, five doubles, a home run, four stolen bases and three RBI<\/abbr>. The Vulcans lead-off hitter had a .741 slugging percentage and went 8-for-13 against PLNU<\/abbr>, including a 4-for-4 game in the series opener with a pair of doubles. On the season, he is hitting a sizzling .453 with 27 runs scored in 21 games and 9 stolen bases in 11 chances.<\/p>\n

东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo is ranked No. 13 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA<\/abbr> Division II<\/abbr> Poll released on March 15.<\/p>\n
