In an effort to begin tackling that monumental task, the state legislature, via the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development, awarded the  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhcdc.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Community Design Center<\/a> (<abbr>东精影业CDC<\/abbr>) and its project partners &#36;350,000 to develop a framework for a future Waik&#299;k&#299; resilience and sea-level rise adaptation plan.<\/p>\n<p>The study, &ldquo;Waik&#299;k&#299; Resilience &amp; SLR Adaptation Project (<abbr>WRAP<\/abbr>),&rdquo; was developed after a year of conversations between decision makers, <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> experts, agencies and stakeholders&#8212;under the leadership of State Sen. Sharon Moriwaki, who convened and facilitated the working group. said Stilgenbauer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Related <em>东精影业 News<\/em> story: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/03\/30\/uhcdc-south-shore-project\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> project plans for sea-level rise from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor<\/a>, March 30, 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Interdisciplinary collaboration<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>东精影业CDC<\/abbr> is partnering with <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Sea Grant College Program <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">(Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Sea Grant) for this project. <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Sea Grant is represented by Extension Agent <strong>Dolan Eversole<\/strong>, a coastal geologist, coastal processes specialist and Waik&#299;k&#299; Beach Management Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Stakeholders in Waik&#299;k&#299; and throughout the state have expressed strong interest in the development of plans and policies that identify adaptation pathways and options for planned resilience to climate change,&rdquo; said Ho Schar. &ldquo;Any such effective strategy must be acceptable and attuned to those who live and work in affected communities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Promoting student learning<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>WRAP<\/abbr> integrates Stilgenbauer\u2019s spring 2023 ARCH 743 Urban Design studio course, in which teams of architecture and landscape architecture students investigate speculative, long-term urban design strategies for sea-level rise adaptation in Waik&#299;k&#299;.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This course integration offers students an opportunity to be part of a real-world <abbr>东精影业CDC<\/abbr> design research project, learn from experts and stakeholders, and gain invaluable public-interest-design and service experience,&rdquo;
