The visit provides context for this week\u2019s Asia Pacific Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience (APDR3) Symposium in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>President <strong>M.R.C. Greenwood<\/strong> and M&#257;noa assistant professor <strong>Maya Soetoro-Ng<\/strong> are leading a delegation from the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> to Yogyakarta, Indonesia this week to represent <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> interests in the <abbr>APDR3<\/abbr> (Asia Pacific Disaster Risk Reduction Resiliency) Indonesia Symposium.  This visit is a result of <abbr>APEC<\/abbr> 2011, when Greenwood vowed to renew the university&#8217;s commitment to expand international partnerships, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood, Soetoro-Ng and Denise Konan, dean of <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsciences.hawaii.edu\/index.html\">College of Social Sciences<\/a> are meeting with various universities and colleges to develop institutional partnerships on faculty research, student exchange and recruitment.
