Building on the momentum from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readykeiki.org\/\">Ready Keiki<\/a> initiative to expand access to preschool, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2023\/07\/06\/600k-supports-ece-initiative\/\">tuition stipend<\/a> available to current and potential early childhood educators and caregivers, the <abbr>ECED<\/abbr> program launched the certificate to provide more opportunities for individuals in the early childhood education and care profession.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/hono-cc-early-child-cert-1-300x169.jpeg\" alt=\"Teachers playing with toddlers\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-180525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/hono-cc-early-child-cert-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/hono-cc-early-child-cert-1-130x73.jpeg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/hono-cc-early-child-cert-1.jpeg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This certificate creates a promising efficient pathway specialized for those who want to work with infants and toddlers. It is a thoughtfully constructed pathway to build <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s infant and toddler caregiver workforce,&rdquo; said Caroline Soga, assistant professor and program coordinator. &ldquo;This certificate is also stackable and enables students to continue on to finish an associate degree and then transfer to a four-year university, if they choose.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The infant and toddler caregiver certificate requires a 21-credit sequence designed to meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/humanservices.hawaii.gov\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Department of Human Services\u2019<\/a> education and experience qualifications of an infant and toddler caregiver.
