Recipients will be part of the seventh cohort of the <a href=\"https:\/\/coe.hawaii.edu\/goo\/\">Grow Our Own<\/a> (<abbr>GOO<\/abbr>) Teachers Initiative.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>GOO<\/abbr> stipends are available for students who have been admitted into <abbr>COE<\/abbr>\u2019s bachelor in elementary education and Hawaiian language immersion and master of education in teaching programs (<abbr>MEdT<\/abbr>) for fall 2023, and for students who are applying to the post-baccalaureate certificate in elementary education and post-baccalaureate certificate in secondary education programs for spring 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I have worked in education for over 10 years in a variety of support positions,&rdquo; said Renee Rivette, 2022 <abbr>MEdT<\/abbr> admit and 2023 <abbr>GOO<\/abbr> recipient. &ldquo;The <abbr>GOO<\/abbr> program funding has allowed me to continue my education and take the next step in a career that I am passionate about, and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Priority is given to applicants who are <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Department of Education (<abbr>HIDOE<\/abbr>) employees (emergency hires, substitutes, educational assistants) in secondary and elementary school settings and those seeking licensure in <abbr>HIDOE<\/abbr> Federal Teacher Shortage Areas (English; English as second language; Hawaiian immersion, knowledge, language or studies; mathematics; science; world languages).
