SPAM program graduating group 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September is National Student Parent Month, and the Student Parents at M\u0101noa<\/a> (SPAM) program at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa celebrates with activities and events to honor and support our pregnant and parenting students, while raising campus awareness of their unique experiences and contributions. The events are a collaboration with the SPAM program, Bridge To Hope<\/a>, and the Women\u2019s Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Balancing academic dreams with the demands of family life is a true testament to the extraordinary dedication and tenacity of pregnant and parenting students on our campus,” said Angie Solomon, SPAM program coordinator. “By supporting their educational journey, we are also supporting their goals of economic mobility and career fulfillment. The SPAM program is committed to empowering student parents to achieve their academic and professional goals. Together, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.”<\/p>\n

\nVisit more than 15 community agencies, organizations and offices<\/p>\n

Approximately one in five college students in the U.S. is raising a child while pursuing their academic goals. Student parents are a diverse population with a significant number identifying as women and students of color. Balancing full-time work, high childcare costs, housing instability and academic responsibilities, student parents demonstrate remarkable resilience and dedication.<\/p>\n

In addition to the National Student Parent Month events, SPAM holds weekly and monthly events throughout the semester for 东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa student parents including mindfulness check-ins, food drops, ʻohana fun days and more.<\/p>\n
