"Comet

This week’s 东精影业 News Image of the Week is from Shen Ran, a graduate student in School of Architecture Global Track Program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Ran shared, “At the end of September, astronomy enthusiasts around the world were observing and photographing Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). I took this photo just before sunrise on September 30, along the eastern coastline of Oʻahu. The comet can be seen in the photo in the cloud crevices as it slowly rises from sea level. I was excited when the comet’s tail was revealed while the sky was still dark. With the long 30 second exposure, the comet seemed to be racing the clouds.”
