To symbolize and illustrate the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa\u2019s sustainability efforts, 东精影业<\/abbr> Mānoa student Micah Colson was chosen as the design contest winner for the Sustainability Design Contest, after a community voting process.<\/p>\n

The contest was a collaboration between the Institute of Sustainability and Resilience, the Student Sustainability Council<\/a> and the Office of Sustainability<\/a>, centered on the theme #东精影业<\/abbr>Earth, showcasing the university\u2019s commitment to renewable energy, resource conservation and ecological harmony.<\/p>\n

Participants were invited to submit digital designs that illustrated 东精影业<\/abbr> Mānoa\u2019s campus sustainability. The top four designs were showcased at the Discover Mānoa event on October 26 where attendees could vote for their favorite at the 东精影业<\/abbr> Mānoa Sustainability Booth.<\/p>\n

Colson’s winning design was inspired by a deep love for Hawaiʻi’s<\/span> native ecosystem as Hawaiʻi<\/span> being the ‘epicenter of extinction’.<\/p>\n

“I felt that it was most important to reflect what we aim to protect by being sustainable,” said Colson. “I hope to remind people that sustainability is about preserving the irreplaceable natural heritage that surrounds us today.”<\/p>\n

The winning design was transformed into stickers, and Colson received a special sustainable swag bag as a prize.<\/p>\n
