University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa swimmer<\/a> Makena Ginoza was selected as one of 42 student-athletes to receive the NCAA<\/abbr>\u2019s Postgraduate Scholarship on May 12.<\/p>\n

The NCAA<\/abbr> awarded $10,000 each to 42 exceptional student-athletes as part of its Postgraduate Scholarship program. These student-athletes, representing winter sports across all three NCAA<\/abbr> divisions, have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, athletic excellence and leadership within their communities.<\/p>\n

Ginoza competed in two events this season, highlighted by multiple podium finishes. Ginoza won gold as a member of the 200 medley relay team, where he swam the anchor leg with a mark of 22.80 against Whitman. At the Harvard-Arkansas tri-meet, he placed second in the 400 IM<\/abbr> with a time of 4:22.89, and in the 500 free with a mark of 4:49.03.<\/p>\n

The NCAA<\/abbr> awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition. The scholarships are distributed three times annually, providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season. The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship intended to support graduate study at an accredited institution.<\/p>\n
