The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> Maui College<\/a> and Hawaiian Electric<\/a> are collaborating to offer a free, eight-week training program<\/a> providing essential utility workforce skills and a path to local employment.<\/p>\n

The hands-on experience from June 30 to September 5, at Hawaiian Electric\u2019s generative division is a unique education opportunity. Trainees will gain experience with electrical systems, combustion turbine operations, instrumentation and control technology, diesel mechanics and plant operations.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s the first time this training has ever been offered on Maui,” 东精影业<\/abbr> Maui College Chancellor Lui Hokoana said. “This innovative collaboration with Hawaiian Electric is another example of our commitment to help train Maui\u2019s future skilled workforce.”<\/p>\n

“We are offering this program as we are looking to build a pipeline of candidates for future opportunities we may have at our generating stations within our company,” Hawaiian Electric\u2019s manager of workforce planning Kazu Hayashida said. “There is a direct path from this program into Hawaiian Electric\u2019s operator helper position.”<\/p>\n
