The Hawaiʻi<\/span> Music Teacher Association (HMTA<\/abbr>) has selected Thomas Yee a music<\/a> professor at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa as Teacher of the Year for his outstanding contributions to Hawaiʻi\u2019s<\/span> music and piano community. The association applauded Yee, a skilled pianist, for his musicianship, leadership and mentorship as an educator on Oʻahu<\/span>.<\/p>\n

“It is a tremendous honor to be named as 2025 Teacher of the Year by the Hawaiʻi<\/span> Music Teachers Association,” said Yee. “To be recognized by my peers, colleagues, students and even their parents for my contribution to the musical community is incredibly humbling, and I am deeply grateful!”<\/p>\n

Seasoned musician<\/h2>\n

Yee is familiar to the island\u2019s classical music audience through his numerous performances with the Hawaiʻi<\/span> Symphony Orchestra and chamber ensembles. A Canadian native, Yee earned degrees from the University of Newfoundland and Eastman School of Music.<\/p>\n
