More than 300 donors and students gathered for an afternoon of connection and sharing stories about how scholarship support is transforming lives and shaping <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s future business leaders.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2024&#8211;25 academic year, Shidler College awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships to more than 300 students. Our donors are not only investing in education&#8212;they\u2019re investing in <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s future leaders, innovators and changemakers. We are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to the mission of the college.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>&lsquo;Grit, curiosity and purpose&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s donor speaker was Roland Casamina (<abbr title=\"Bachelor of Business Administration\">BBA<\/abbr> \u201976), chairman and <abbr title=\"Chief Executive Officer\">CEO<\/abbr> of House of Finance, <abbr title=\"Incorporated\">Inc<\/abbr>., and founding president of the Filipino Community Center. Casamina\u2019s giving to the college amounts to more than $350,000, which includes an endowed scholarship benefiting undergraduate business students and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2023\/01\/06\/shidler-student-leadership-center\/\">gift to modernize the Roland and Evelyn Casamina House of Finance Undergraduate Student Leadership Center<\/a>&#8212;a hub for mentoring and student leadership development.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-shidler-luncheon-4-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"group shot\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-224854\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-shidler-luncheon-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-shidler-luncheon-4-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-shidler-luncheon-4.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Growing up in Kalihi, I didn\u2019t see people like me in leadership roles,&rdquo; said Casamina. &ldquo;That inspired me to create opportunities for others through my endowed scholarship at Shidler College. You are the proof that with grit, curiosity and purpose, anything is possible&#8212;so work hard, stay true and build the world you want to see.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The event featured two student speakers&#8212;undergraduate student Siddalee Amaral and graduate student Tracyn Nagata (also event coordinator for <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s Office of the Provost)&#8212;who shared heartfelt stories about how scholarship support has shaped their educational journeys. They spoke about how their scholarships reduced financial burdens and enabled them to experience study abroad opportunities.
