In 2025, \u02bb\u014dlelo Hawai\u02bbi<\/span> speakers and students in the 东精影业<\/abbr> community shared their favorite Hawaiian words. Mahalo to the students, faculty and staff members who shared words that inspired them, and we look forward to more words in the new year!<\/p>\n

This year the 东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo Ka Haka \u02bbUla o Ke\u02bbelik\u014dlani<\/span>, College of Hawaiian Language<\/span><\/a> chose k\u0101huli as the 2025 Hua\u02bb\u014dlelo<\/span> (Word) of the Year<\/a>. K\u0101huli conveys the meaning \u201cto change, to alter, to overturn.\u201d In the Kumulipo<\/em>, k\u0101huli describes the transformation that warmed the earth and unfolded the heavens, catalyzing the formation of the universe itself.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text css=””]\n
