  {"id":2275,"date":"2011-11-21T17:26:19","date_gmt":"2011-11-22T03:26:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=2275"},"modified":"2021-06-02T11:33:01","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T21:33:01","slug":"veterans-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2011\/11\/21\/veterans-exhibit\/","title":{"rendered":"Veterans featured in university library exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/uhvets.jpg\" alt=\"pictures hanging on display\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/uhvets.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/uhvets-260x158.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An exhibit that salutes University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> alumni veterans of World War <abbr title=\"one\">I<\/abbr>, World War <abbr title=\"two\">II<\/abbr>, the Korean War and the Vietnam War is on display at <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/library.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">Hamilton Library<\/a> Addition Moir Reading Room.<\/p>\n<p><em>University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Veterans: World War <abbr>I<\/abbr>&#8211;Vietnam War<\/em> was created by <a href=\"http:\/\/library.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa  Library<\/a> Archivist <strong>Jim Cartwright<\/strong> and Librarian <strong>Lynn Davis<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The legacy of <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> veterans is documented through letters, journals, posters and photographs. A notebook will be at the exhibit for people to write about <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> veterans from their own experience or from their families. The notebook will help the library document and pay tribute to its university heroes.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit is display through March 2012. The Moir Reading Room is open Tuesday&#8211;Friday, 10 a.m.&#8211;4 p.m.<\/p>\n<h2>University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Archives<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The archive has extensive resources about the university&#8217;s history and student life. <\/li>\n<li>The largest collection on veterans is from World War <abbr title=\"two\">II<\/abbr>. In 1943, the Territory of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> established the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> War Records Depository to preserve materials that documented individuals and organizations in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> during World War <abbr title=\"Roman numeral two\">II<\/abbr>. <\/li>\n<li>The Japanese American Veterans Collection focuses on the experiences of these veterans who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Territorial Guard, Varsity Victory Volunteers, 442nd <abbr>RCT<\/abbr>, 1399th Engineers and Military Intelligence Service. <\/li>\n<li>The Vietnam War documentation is a recent gift to the Archives of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Artists and Architects from Joseph F.
