Developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/kanaeokana.net\">Kanaeokana<\/a>, a network of Hawaiian language, culture and <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;\u0101ina<\/span>-based education organizations, the exhibits will rotate through <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\"> <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> West <span lang=\"haw\">O&#699;ahu<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kauai.hawaii.edu\"><span lang=\"haw\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/maui.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> Maui College<\/a> from January through early April.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_228819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-228819\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/hilo-activations-ea-exhibit-2-300x170.jpg\" alt=\"exhibit visitor greeted by library staff\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-228819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/hilo-activations-ea-exhibit-2-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/hilo-activations-ea-exhibit-2-130x74.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/hilo-activations-ea-exhibit-2.jpg 672w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-228819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">K\u012bpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center peer mentors engaging UH Hilo students in activities centered in the Lili\u02bbuokalani activation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The exhibits center on Hawaiian history, while inviting communities to actively engage with ea (life, air, breath, sovereignty, rural, independence). This semester marks the first time the activations will rotate simultaneously across multiple islands, amplifying messages of ea and aloha <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;\u0101ina<\/span> (love of the land) while uplifting Hawaiian history, culture and language.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative began during a K\u016bkalahale E <span lang=\"haw\">Ho&#699;i<\/span> N\u0101 Wai culture-based professional development training, where Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> librarians explored ways to indigenize library spaces. The idea quickly spread across the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> system, evolving into a coordinated, multi-campus effort.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I was so inspired by the campus libraries tour last semester that I wanted to make sure that every <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> library had an opportunity to showcase the beautiful activations and educate our communities that the ea of this <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;\u0101ina<\/span> still exists through our history, culture and language,&rdquo;
