The event featured more than 40 organizations, with a strong showing from the University of <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa\u2019s<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience<\/a> (<abbr title=\"College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience\">CTAHR<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/manoa-ctahr-ag-day-2026-3-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"person smiling\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-230424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/manoa-ctahr-ag-day-2026-3-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/manoa-ctahr-ag-day-2026-3-93x130.jpg 93w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/manoa-ctahr-ag-day-2026-3.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the event, <abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr> Professor Brent Sipes and his colleagues shared strategies for pest management and crop protection, while experts Mark Thorne and Yanghua He discussed livestock sustainability and food security. Additionally, researchers detailed the science behind <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i\u2019s<\/span> unique environment and soil health, and teams from <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> <abbr title=\"Head, Heart, Hands, Health\">4-H<\/abbr> and GoFarm <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> showcased how <abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr> is mentoring the next generation of farmers and leaders.<\/p>\n<h2>Voices from the field<\/h2>\n<p>The heart of the event was the exchange between researchers, industry leaders and policymakers. Tessie Amore, an associate researcher at <abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr>, presented the critical link between research and the ornamental plant industry.
