Four seniors on two University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> volleyball teams have earned all-team honors as they close out their collegiate careers. <\/p>\n

The 东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo Vulcans<\/a> finished their season in a first-round loss to Sonoma State University in San Bernardino, Calif. The 东精影业<\/abbr> Mānoa Rainbow Wahine<\/a> play for the WAC<\/abbr> tournament title November 23 in Las Vegas and face Cal State Fullerton in a post-season game November 25 while waiting word on the NCAA<\/abbr> first and second round match-ups.<\/p>\n

Hillary Hurley and Rachel Thornquist on senior night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Rachel Thornquist<\/strong> was named by coaches to the NCAA<\/abbr> Division II<\/abbr> West Region Championship all-Tournament team. The 5-11 outside hitter scored on 13 kills and had a team-high eight block assists in her final game. <\/p>\n

Thornquist is a business major and former basketball player from Crystal Lake, Ill<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

Hillary Hurley<\/strong> was selected by the regional sports information directors for the NCAA<\/abbr> Division II<\/abbr> Daktronics West Region first-team. The 6-2 middle hitter leads Division II<\/abbr> in kills per sets (6.80) and the Pacific West Conference in kills (347).<\/p>\n

The Anderson, Calif<\/abbr>., athlete was first-team all-PacWest last year in basketball.<\/p>\n

Kanani Danielson on senior night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kanani Danielson<\/strong> was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year during the WAC<\/abbr> postseason banquet November 18—her third time for the honor.<\/p>\n

The 5-10 outside hitter from ʻEwa Beach averages 4.02 kills and 2.84 digs per set. She is a Lowe’s Senior CLASS award<\/a> finalist.<\/p>\n

Chanteal Satele<\/strong> was named to the all-WAC<\/abbr> first team for a second time.<\/p>\n

A transfer student from St. Mary’s College, the 5-10 outside hitter from Mililani was third in the WAC<\/abbr> in hitting percentage (.358) and posted a career-high 15 kills against San Jose State this season.<\/p>\n

A human resources major, Satele wants to become a pediatric nurse.<\/p>\n

She comes from a 东精影业<\/abbr> Athletics family—brother Liko plays on the Warrior football team; mother LeeAnn (Pestana) was a member of two NCAA<\/abbr> champion Wahine volleyball teams; and father Alvis and cousins Samson and Hercules Satele and Melila Purcell are Warrior football alumni.<\/p>\n

Four teammates were also named to the first team—junior Brittany Hewitt<\/strong>, sophomores Emily Hartong<\/strong> and Mita Uiato<\/strong> and freshman Jane Croson<\/strong>, who was also named to the all-freshman team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
